We’re your collectively cool curated shopping mart bringing you everything you never knew you needed. We are bringing purveyors to our store who create and make products that taste good, are responsibly made, and reflect the diverse community which we are a part of. We don’t stop there… We’ve created a seasonal chef driven fresh food menu, hand crafted coffee, and a handpicked wine and beer menu. This wine has been a cult favorite in Minneapolis since the 1980s golden era of The Loring Café. From hand -picked, estate-grown vineyards certified organic in 1976, you’ll find the soft, earthy aromas of flowering rosemary and wild sage combined with the mountain freshness of the cooling ‘mistral’ produce a wine of incredible complexity with a lush mouthfeel. Eve Cartier, working under the tutelage of parents Luc & Lucienne, produces an astonishingly high-quality wine at an incredible price

We’re the team behind the scenes at KM. Our goal is to bring a dining and shopping experience that will leave your tastebuds wanting to come back for more. We’ve tasted, tested, and carefully crafted house made dishes. We’ve sourced local products, as well as purveyors from all over the country. Hi! My name is Heidi Stark and I'm the founder of Kruse Markit. I’m an ex-banker turned entrepreneur (still recovering from my 9-5 days)! I've always been that girl looking for the next best coffee shop, market, and restaurant to try. After joining the great resignation, I realized that Minneapolis didn’t quite have that cool modern curated grocery I’ve had the chance to find in other cities. As I grappled to figure out what was next, I decided “Hey, why not create the perfect place I had always been looking for in my super cool city, Minneapolis?!” I wanted to create a place that all people can gather and enjoy in or outside of the café based on their day that day, and with that Kruse Markit was born. Kruse Markit is from my maiden name Krusemark. I wanted this brand to represent who I am and where I came from. I come from a large family (extended and direct). My goal was to create a place like the home I grew up in which was full of collectively cool humans, great food, and a daily dose of sarcasm which you will see in the design, brand, and the aesthetic of the dining and shopping experience. I hope you enjoy your coffee, beer, wine, and amazing food served, created, and curated by the most collectively cool humans I know! Our team is awesome and will not disappoint. Fun Facts:
- If I am not at KM I am likely in a gym (somewhere and everywhere) screaming and cheering my son on playing basketball year round.
- I love cabin life! My favorite place to be is on the lake with my husband, Jon, and my sons, Jackson, and Anderson along with my Kruse Markit family and our collection of dogs.
- I have a knack for creating unnecessary projects around the house and at the lake.

Jon Stark

Co-Owner

Hello! I'm Jon Stark, husband to the one and only, our Founder Heidi, and co-owner here at KM! I'm a tried-and-true MN Lifer, growing up across the river over in that foreign land we know as St. Paul. Then for college I made it all the way up to Moorhead and graduated from Concordia College. Heading back to the Cities after that I found steady work in the wonderful world of finance at Wells Fargo. Meeting Heidi at work was of course my career highlight! After a 23-year banking career, I hung up my stagecoach saddle and picked up a gig backing up our fearless leader Heidi!
I've always loved everything food and beverage adjacent, so it's been tremendously fun, and often challenging of course, to now be on the other side of the counter providing you all with great food and beverages!
I love the great vibe and wonderful experience that Heidi and team have put together here at Kruse Markit, and I hope to see you all here soon!

Mary Papadakis-Hewitt

Front of House Manager

Oh hi! My name is Mary and I’m the Front of House Manager here at Kruse Markit.
I’m from MN, born and raised. I received my degree from Minnesota State, Mankato with a major in Food & Nutrition and a minor in Health Science. I’ve also been in the food industry all my life as well. Ranging from working at food coops, to baking bread at 3AM, to washing dishes, to working at a vegan butcher shop (it’s a thing, look it up!), to serving/bartending, and now leading our wonderful front of house team here at Kruse Markit!
To say food is my love language is an understatement. I really enjoy cooking for my loved ones and when I’m not cooking it, you can find me being that annoying foodie at the amazing restaurants taking fun foodie photos for my socials (bless my partner for putting up with it). In my free time away from work, my family likes to travel based on what restaurants we want to visit. My life is filled with my love for food. Which ties in so well with now working at Kruse. The amount of thought and passion put into the menu here along with the fun and unique market items is what makes me truly excited to be a part of this team. We like to highlight fun, unique, and seasonal ingredients into our menu, which keeps everyone coming back for more!

Fun Facts:
- I have four fur babies: 1 Pomeranian, 1 Pembroke Corgi, and my two ginger kitties.
- I drink sparkling water more than flat water. You can almost always find me with a La Croix in my hand.
- If given the choice, my last meal would be the maitake ramen from moto-i.

Hello! Consulting Chef Beth Fisher here. Hospitality and cuisine are in my blood. Working in this city, so rich in diverse flavors and talented people, has brought me great enjoyment over the years. A creative force in the Twin Cities culinary scene for many years, I've played key roles in some great restaurants in town: The Whitney Grille, Lucia’s, Wise Acre Eatery, Rustica Bakery, Thirty Bales, and French Meadow Café. A longtime belief in the importance of teamwork, whole food cookery, and local, sustainably sourced foods is at the core of my style. When I’m not in the kitchen tasting, cooking and creating delicious food, you’ll find me in my garden, on a dog walk or fixing up a found treasure. Our team has worked hard to make this space inclusive and unique to the Twin Cities. Cheers! My name is Caroline. I am so glad you find yourself exploring Kruse Markit’s website. Careful attention to detail is the common thread weaving together neighborhood coffee shop, fresh market, healthy café, wine bar & bistro to create a groovy spot to gather your thoughts or meet up with friends. Wine is my passion, and I am lucky to have honed my skills in some of the best early wine bars in Minneapolis. Bistros like Bobino, Lucia’s, and Wise Acre Eatery were magical spots to enjoy great food and an incredible glass (or two!) of unique wine. Working with Consulting Chef Beth Fisher on the opening food/wine menus of Kruse Markit has been key in creating a wine list that enhances the fare. So, Chin! Chin! Whatever you’re sipping on reflects the thoughtful intention that is at the heart of Kruse Markit.
